The City of Sculpture and It’s Hidden Gem

by Ashley Yoder

Adventurers and artists alike flock to the City of Sculpture to immerse themselves in nature and beauty.  Nestled in the rolling hills of Hamilton, Ohio, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park stands as a testament to the vision of one man, Harry T. Wilks. What began as a personal retreat in 1987 has blossomed into a renowned cultural destination, attracting over 30,000 visitors annually.

Wilks' journey began with the purchase of 40 acres of land, where he built his home, the iconic Pyramid House. Over time, his passion for art and nature led him to acquire additional land, transforming the landscape into a sprawling park. In 1996, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park opened its doors, offering a unique blend of art, culture, and education.

The park's centerpiece is its vast collection of over 70 monumental outdoor sculptures, each carefully placed to complement the natural beauty of the surroundings. Visitors can explore the park's winding trails, discovering works of art nestled among meadows, lakes, and gardens. The park also features an Ancient Sculpture Museum, housing artifacts from ancient civilizations, and a Museum Gallery showcasing contemporary exhibitions.

Pyramid Hill is more than just a park; it's a vibrant community hub. The park hosts numerous events throughout the year, including the popular Pyramid Hill Lights during the holiday season and the annual Art Fair. Educational programs for children and families further enrich the park's offerings, making it a place for people of all ages to connect with art and nature.  Considering a wedding with phenomenal natural backdrops?  Pyramid Hill can assist in making your special day come true.

Planning a visit to Pyramid Hill? The park is open year-round, though hours may vary seasonally. You can find the most up-to-date information on their website, including admission fees, directions, and a map of the grounds. Located at 1763 Hamilton-Cleves Rd, Hamilton, OH 45013, the park is easily accessible by car. Whether you're looking for a peaceful stroll through the sculpture gardens, a family outing, or a unique cultural experience, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park offers something for everyone. So, pack a picnic, grab your camera, and prepare to be inspired by the intersection of art and nature.
